There are a lot of practices out there and how do you know which one will fit you? Maybe you’ve encountered different forms of therapy or heard that it’s all about the ‘click’ with the therapist? And have you thought about the practical implications of going into therapy?

Is the psychologist a right fit for me?
My name is Dea Boom (1988) and I’m the owner of Psychologist Groningen. I’d like to tell you a bit about myself and my background, so that you’ll know who’ll be sitting in front of you.
In my life, personally and professionally, I strive to be respectful towards others. The differences between people make our lives richer and more fascinating and that’s why I’m always curious to know what drives you and makes you the person that you are today. I will meet you from an attitude of trust and openness. I suspect this is one of the reasons why I get the feedback that clients don’t feel judged by me and feel that they can talk about anything, no matter how difficult the subject.
Can I find help here?
Psychologist Groningen can provide treatment for the following six categories of problems. Do you have another request? Don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss the possibilities.
Stress & burnout
Stress and burnout change your whole world. Everything that used to be normal suddenly doesn’t work anymore. Read more about why this is and what you can do about it.
Depression
When you’re in a depression, everything becomes increasingly grey. You no longer experience joy, have little energy and may even be thinking about suicide. Luckily, there are other options.
Anxiety
The intensity with which anxiety can suddenly hit, is hard to describe. Sometimes it focusses on a specific fear and sometimes it’s very broad. Get to know your fear in a different way and learn to deal with it differently.
Eating problems
Whether it’s eating too much or too little: eating problems have an effect on your entire life. We can find out what’s causing the problem and what you can do about it.
Psychosomatic
These are symptoms that can’t be (sufficiently) indicated by medical procedures, but can have a severe effect on you. You can learn how to explore these psychosomatic symptoms in a different way.
Existential questions
‘What do I want with my life?’ ‘Which choice should I make?’ ‘How can I fill my days with value and authenticity?’ We can explore these and more life questions together.
Is the method of treatment right for me?
The method of Psychologist Groningen is characterized by respect, openness and collaboration. Therapy works best when we can collaborate on the goals you have in mind.
Scientific research into the effectiveness of therapy shows time and again that it doesn’t really matter which form of therapy you’re doing, as long as it has a sound theoretical basis. That’s why I combine gestalt therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) and neurobiology to create the treatment that suits you best. And to make it as effective as possible, I’m going to need your help also.
Is it practically achievable?
Therapy can be very helpful, but only if all of the practicalities can be met. Below you can find the most frequently asked questions.
Therapy at Psychologist Groningen is not reimbursed by the Dutch basic insurance, but from the Dutch additional insurance. You’ll find a list of insurance companies that reimburse me here.
