Welcome to Psychologist Groningen

When you’re an adult looking for psychological help, it can be difficult to find a practice that feels like the right place. There are a lot of practices out there and how do you know which one will fit you? Maybe you’ve encountered different forms of therapy or heard that it’s all about the ‘click’ with the therapist? And have you thought about the practical implications of going into therapy?

I’d like to help you find the answers to these questions, so that we can discover if Psychologist Groningen is right for you. Who knows, maybe I’ll see you in my practice soon. Do you have have any other questions? Feel free to contact me.

Is the psychologist a right fit for me?

My name is Dea Boom (1988) and I’m the owner of Psychologist Groningen. I’d like to tell you a bit about myself and my background, so that you’ll know who’ll be sitting in front of you.

In my life, personally and professionally, I strive to be respectful towards others. The differences between people make our lives richer and more fascinating and that’s why I’m always curious to know what drives you and makes you the person that you are today. I will meet you from an attitude of trust and openness. I suspect this is one of the reasons why I get the feedback that clients don’t feel judged by me and feel that they can talk about anything, no matter how difficult the subject.

Can I find help here?

Psychologist Groningen can provide treatment for the following six categories of problems. Do you have another request? Don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss the possibilities.

Stress & burnout

Stress and burnout change your whole world. Everything that used to be normal suddenly doesn’t work anymore. Read more about why this is and what you can do about it.

Depression

When you’re in a depression, everything becomes increasingly grey. You no longer experience joy, have little energy and may even be thinking about suicide. Luckily, there are other options.

Anxiety

The intensity with which anxiety can suddenly hit, is hard to describe. Sometimes it focusses on a specific fear and sometimes it’s very broad. Get to know your fear in a different way and learn to deal with it differently.

Eating problems

Whether it’s eating too much or too little: eating problems have an effect on your entire life. We can find out what’s causing the problem and what you can do about it.

Psychosomatic

These are symptoms that can’t be (sufficiently) indicated by medical procedures, but can have a severe effect on you. You can learn how to explore these psychosomatic symptoms in a different way.

Existential questions

‘What do I want with my life?’ ‘Which choice should I make?’ ‘How can I fill my days with value and authenticity?’ We can explore these and more life questions together.

Is the method of treatment right for me?

The method of Psychologist Groningen is characterized by respect, openness and collaboration. Therapy works best when we can collaborate on the goals you have in mind.

Scientific research into the effectiveness of therapy shows time and again that it doesn’t really matter which form of therapy you’re doing, as long as it has a sound theoretical basis. That’s why I combine gestalt therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy (IFS) and neurobiology to create the treatment that suits you best. And to make it as effective as possible, I’m going to need your help also.

Is it practically achievable?

Therapy can be very helpful, but only if all of the practicalities can be met. Below you can find the most frequently asked questions.

Therapy at Psychologist Groningen is not  reimbursed by the Dutch basic insurance, but from the Dutch additional  insurance. You’ll find a list of insurance companies that reimburse me here.

A session costs 90 euros. The invoice will be send to you the next working day by e-mail, after which you may be reimbursed part of it by your insurance.

A session lasts 45 minutes, after which we’ll often take the time to make a new appointment or to discuss a practical matter.

No, you don’t need a referral from your general practitioner.

Client experiences

What I like about Dea is her calmness and accessibility. With you I can drop my shield without being afraid you will take advantage. She has given me useful tools and leads if I get stuck. Dea knows how to do her job and is very professional. She knows exactly when she has to help you and when she has to let you struggle a bit yourself.

Daniël, 22 years

Her calm appearance and listening ear make you feel comfortable quickly. Dea knows how to get to the heart of the matter with her treatment that she specifically tailors to every person. You are always welcome, with a tear and with a laugh. The sessions can be hard of course, but we can also laugh now and then. I have been helped very well!

Holly, 20 years

Dea let me puzzle for myself by listening well and by asking questions why I got stuck in certain situations and gave me the tools I needed to deal with it. Thank you again for this.

Robert, 61 years

Because of her calm appearance I felt immediately at ease with Dea. By asking good questions she helped me understand situations better and see them in a different light. I got a lot out of our conversations together and can recommend her care. You are in good hands with Dea.

Nina, 42 years

A peaceful and welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to open up. It doesn’t only feel like solving problems, but more as an open conversation.

Leo, 19 years

Dea helped me a lot to get my thoughts and feelings together and to understand myself a little bit better. With her aid I managed to get through some difficult times and she didn’t give up on me even when I was about to. Smart, professional and a delightful personality.

Angelo, 33 years

We have very good experiences with Dea. She is calm, gives good tips and doesn’t use vague language. She has got us back on the right track!

Clara and Hans, 62 and 67 years

Dea has helped me understand myself better when I got stuck on my own. You can have serious conversations with her, but you can also laugh together. This makes it easy to talk to her. I have benefited a lot from our sessions!

Bobbi, 19 years

Dea helps me in my grieving process. She is a very calm and nice person. With Dea I feel safe to talk about all my feelings. She doesn’t judge and resonates with me at the same time. She asks good questions that help me further. She calms me and helps me get more clarity and space in my head.
